The plan
Do I need a special camera?
No. Any phone or pet camera with live view works. You watch it while you’re out, then log what you saw in the app.
How much time per day?
About 10–20 minutes, depending on how many short sessions you choose. There’s one rest day every week.
What if I can’t avoid long absences?
The plan includes a coverage module: daycare, sitters, friends, and bringing your dog along. Long absences past your dog’s limit can set training back, so the plan helps you cover them while you train.
How long does it take?
Calm Alone is built as a 60-day plan, and every dog moves at its own pace. Some dogs move faster, many take longer. Day 60 is a milestone, not a deadline: the plan carries on with the same rules.
How does the app decide what to do next?
After each absence you log how your dog did: calm, mild signs, or stressed. Two calm sessions in a row means a little longer next time. Mild signs means repeat. Stressed means a step back. Steps are small, and the plan never grows an absence by more than 20% at once.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Calm Alone runs in your web browser on any phone, tablet or computer, and works offline once it has loaded.
Your dog
Will this work for my breed?
The plan adapts to your dog, whatever the breed, by following what you see on camera. We can’t promise a result for any dog, but every step is sized to how your dog is doing.
Is it for puppies?
No. Calm Alone is for adult dogs, 1 year and older. Puppies need a different approach.
My dog is crated when I’m out. Is that a problem?
Many dogs who struggle alone get worse in a crate. The plan never asks you to crate your dog during absences, and helps you set up a safe room or gated area instead.
Safety
Is this a replacement for my vet?
No. The plan starts with a vet check, and your vet is the one to see for any concern about your dog’s health or safety.
What if my dog hurts themselves when alone?
If your dog injures their mouth or paws, breaks teeth or nails, or tries to get through windows or doors, please see your vet first and ask about a board-certified veterinary behaviorist (DACVB) or Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist. The plan pauses if you log any of these.
What about medication?
Veterinarians sometimes prescribe medication alongside training. Only a veterinarian can decide whether it’s right for your dog. One lesson explains what to ask at your appointment.
Does the plan use punishment or corrections?
Never. Barking, howling and chewing when alone are signs of distress, not spite, so the plan works by keeping your dog calm rather than correcting them.
